I recently went to see Sensing Spaces at the Royal Academy and was strongly moved by much of what I saw. I have posted some photos on my Facebook artist page here  but the strongest and most enduring moment for me, was the encounter I had with the work by one of my heroes - Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. All the above photos are the direct result of that encounte!

Thank you to the Royal Academy for giving us a taste of Space Heaven. This space addict is most grateful!

True Stories

Summer 2013   (The below letter has been edited and condensed)

Dear Nothing,

My name is Rachelle Allen-Sherwood. I am an artist based in the UK and a fan of your Facebook page. My art practice revolves around the theme of space, motion and nothingness. In March 2013, I started up a blog dedicated to my favorite topic.

I'm writing to ask if I could interview you about the subject of nothingness?
My blog is not world famous or anything like that,  but I am deeply passionate about space, in any form, shape or manner.

What I'd like to do, is start a dialogue between us about space and nothing.  I'm thinking of questions like: "What is the 'thing' in nothing?  Is it the same as something?"  Due to the experimental nature of this idea, I think it's best to play it by ear and see where it goes. It may not work and I could end up having to trash the whole thing but I'd like to try anyways, if that's okay with you.

Please let me know what you think.  It would really make my day, to hear something back from Nothing,

best regards,
Rachelle

Update
I sent that letter off six months ago and have heard nothing back since.....
How perfect. I sent a request to interview Nothing about nothing, and heard nothing back!
